Though there is plenty of content for players to get through, that hasn't stopped players from creating and downloading tons of different mods that change gameplay in small or massive ways. From a Skyrim mod that adds more trees to mods that heavily change combat, NPCs, or other elements, there is almost certainly a mod that exists for any player's desires.
Skyrim Sci Fi Mods
However, one type of mod that doesn't exist in large numbers are mods that completely change Skyrim from the ground up. While it is possible for players to download enough mods to change Skyrim completely, Not many mods exist with the goal if making Skyrim look like an entirely different game altogether. However, popular Skyrim modder Ripcat has decided to do just that, creating a mod that changes Skyrim from its traditional setting into a sci-fi game.
Ripcat posted an update video of the mod, showcasing an entirely different game from Skyrim. The visuals are breathtaking due to the mod's graphics; with the walking and camera angles, it looks like the camera is floating through the city environments. The environments give off feelings of a sci-fi city, with sights such as a massive, complicated door one could see on a sci-fi ship to a black pyramid with neon lights and designs. There were even some android NPCs walking around that could have come straight out of Mass Effect. While there are mods used to transform Skyrim into Harry Potter or other fantasy universes, Ripcat's mod may be the first to completely transform Skyrim into a sci-fi game.
Beauty is an underrated characteristic in games, as some players' experiences can be ruined by a visually displeasing experience; this leads to the creation of mods that improve the visuals of Skyrim VR. Conversely, it also drives the creation of mods like Ripcat's that completely change the visual and gameplay feel of Skyrim.
Plenty of Skyrim mods add new locations. Fantastical places like The Forgotten City, Falskaar, and Elsweyr. Fort Knox (opens in new tab) by Ripcat, a Skyrim Special Edition mod, adds a futuristic city complete with skyscrapers, neon signs, an industrial district, a shuttle to takes you to the beach, shops that sell guns and drugs, cops in riot gear, and, of course, a strip club with sexy robots.
A new mod has been created for the popular game Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and this one brings players to a futuristic city called Fort Knox. Skyrim has had a massive modding community since the game launched on PC in 2011. The mods have taken the game to completely different levels and even brings some of gaming's favorite characters, like Kratos from God of War, to Skyrim.
2021 marked a decade since Skyrim's original release and players are still just as eager to play thanks to a lot of these impressive mods. The game's creator Bethesda Game Studios has even begun to work with modders to make new content for the game. Creation Club is a group of developers and content creators that started creating Bethesda-approved mods in 2017. They have since released hours of in-game content and with the Skyrim: Anniversary Edition release there were 500 pieces of content available to download. This content includes questline mods, armor and weapon mods, and even a survival mod that adds Fallout-style survival to Skyrim. These are just a short list of impressive and immersive mods that have been added to the game over the last decade and there are many more that the community has made that are independent of the developers.
DualShockers recently reported on the newest immersive mod that was created for Skyrim. The mod was created by Ripcat and they have included hours of new content to the game, as seen on the YouTube channel Beyond the Automatic. Fort Knox will have over 400 NPCs walking around the city and will also have 7 different areas for players to explore. There will also be over 150 different weapons, as well as cosmetics and new accessories, possibly to fit the cyberpunk-style theming. There is a video walkthrough available that was released in early 2020, but it appears that there has been so much more added to the game since then. Ripcat mentions that there are 200 interior areas that can be explored which include bars, clubs, a police station, a hospital, apartments, and more. As far as immersive Skyrim mods go, this one is likely to be at the top for years to come.
There are many mods that transform the game for the better, but this one will add an entirely new feeling to Skyrim. There is no mention of story elements to the mod and Ripcat did say that it is still a work in progress, so it is likely that more content will be added in the upcoming months. The city looks stunning and there are a lot of areas to explore, and this will likely keep players occupied while the rest of the mod is finished. Ripcat also mentioned that this mod is free and will stay free forever.
From immersive mods to off-the-rails mods (like changing the dragon in the opening scene to Stone Cold Steve Austin), to Skyrim lore-appropriate mods, the mod community brings so much to the game. Regardless of the fact that Edler Scrolls V: Skyrim has existed for a decade, players still have the chance to experience something completely new and exciting thanks to the modding community.
Speaking of mods Skyrimusers can also enjoy other content such as Wyrmstooth, an expansion that adds new dungeons and unreleased missions. Additionally, this mod brings elements of The Witcher. Dragon Hall Tavern is another mod in 2GB heavy DLC format, which fits in Skyrim missions, new locations, an arena and more.
However, Creation Engine 2, realistically, should not be too dissimilar to its predecessor. Modders already well-versed with the Creation Engine should be able to translate their skills without much hassle into developing mods for Starfield.
As we have seen in the case of previous Bethesda RPGs, their sandbox nature creates the foundation for a wide spectrum of mods. From overhauling gameplay to radically enhancing graphics, from new meaningful characters to sprawling world spaces - mods make players come back to the Bethesda RPGs repeatedly.
The ever expansive Skyrim has seen its fair share of location mods, some of which are extensive and extraordinarily well put together. There's the huge Falskaar lands mod, for example, that adds 20-30 hours worth of quests and side quests, giving players an entirely new worldspace to explore. Now there's a mod that gives Skyrim players the chance to explore an entire dystopian futuristic city.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been out 11 years now, and Bethesda show no signs of giving up on it yet. The truth is that when a game is this old, and has been ported to every single platform known to man, it gets more than a few mods. Whether you want to make everyone in Skyrim gay, or make all the locks specific to the region where they are found, there is a mod for pretty much any whim you have.
This guy downloaded over 600 mods for Skyrim to make it look absolutely fantastic. Let's just say with the game being 11 years old, sometimes it needs a little help. Now there's a new mod which turns the world of Skyrim into a cyberpunk future.
This impressive mod is the work of Kreiste (opens in new tab), who shared a video of their creation on YouTube. The footage shows exactly how many triangles and vertices their cabbages use and compares them with the vanilla version of the vegetable as well as other mods designed to improve the appearance of objects, including the Static Mesh Improvement Mod (opens in new tab) and High Poly Project (opens in new tab). Interestingly, Kreiste's cabbages are practically identical to High Poly Project's version but use vastly fewer triangles and vertices.
A more complete list of mods (compared to this one) is on the Bay 12 forum. The list includes updated links to a multitude of mods, utilities and modding utilities. All featured mods are catered for version 40.01 and up, though some of them might be outdated, and not work with the current version. There also exists links to threads of similar function for the older versions.
The list does not, however, encompass all up-to-date mods published on the forum, for that one has to search through the Mod Releases board, or even the Dwarf Fortress File Depot, the site where nigh all uploaded mods are stored.
